Project Description :

The TCD 2 evaporator package is part of an oil sand recovery process pilot plant called SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage). After having been heated with steam, bitumen comes out from an oil well mixed with water generated by steam condensation. The evaporator duty is to concentrate de-oiled water coming out from the well to feed a boiler with its condensates. Hence it reduces the waste reject rate of the polluted water.

Technical Description :

The fully skid mounted unit is a Multiple Effect Distillation (MED) evaporator with a thermal vapour compression. There are 2 cells with a concentrate recirculation line on each and a mist wash on demister pads. Cell shells, internals and pipes are all made of carbon steel.
